West Yorkshire Schools Athletics Association
Welcome to our new West Yorkshire Schools Athletics Association webpage. This will take over from our Facebook page as the ‘go to information link’ for all things linked to WYSAA and ESAA Athletics. The content on our webpage will only include Track & Field and Cross Country links. The website will celebrate our success through content and Roll of Honour. There will be links to ESAA page, Fastrax and Leeds Beckett University. There is also email and mobile links to myself and Steve.
West Yorkshire schools is the umbrella organsisation schools’ athletics within our 5 areas, Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield.
We are an organsisation that leads on schools’ athletics within our county. We have no grant aid and all events and competition is funded via schools, areas and family donations. If you would like to be a benefactor to our organisation, please contact myself or Steve to discuss. Below is a link to our donations collection pot if you feel you’d like to support us.

West Yorkshire Schools Athletics is run by volunteers and all events and trips are funded by the charge for events and the generosity of our members.
We have been lucky enough to have many parents and previous athletes donate to our worthy cause. We are now planning for the future and for this reason we are re opening our collection pot. It doesn’t matter how big or some the amount. Anything anyone can spare we will be extremely grateful.

Meet Our Kind Benefactors
West Yorkshire Schools Athletics Association are pleased to thank our very kind benefactors whose generosity is helping us stay afloat for the next 18months.
Callum Elson has agreed to fund our coach hire to Sefton Park for the ESAA XC champs in Liverpool. Which will reduce the cost to athletes considerably.
The Chevin Chase has contributed £1000 to our fighting fund, So thanks to Ewen Pearson and Trustees for their kind donation. Many of our athletes have gone on to compete in the Chase on Boxing day each year, with many of our alumni as winners. I will be posting a link for Dec 2027 competition when it is released.

Combined Events news
Congratulations Matejus (Report from Mike Stayman) One of our Senior Boy Athletes has had the honour of representing his Country at the Baltic States Decathlon Championships. Matejus Varnelis, who is at Notre Dame College in Leeds, earned his International Vest by winning the Lithuanian Under 20 Decathlon Championships in Siauliai, Lithuania in early May. This led to his National Team Selection at the Baltic States Championships on the 30th/31st May in Valmiera, Latvia. He finished a very creditable 9th place in his first International scoring 7 PBs along the way against some very strong opposition including the World Lead from Estonia. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come in the future.
